Hey, I'm Dyin' Here!

So, I've neglected sharing too much on my main website, although I have been more open on my Twitter and Instagram pages,  so... might as well make it official here. Last June I was diagnosed with ALS. I'm slowly going downhill, but still able to walk and draw. My bulbar symptoms are the worst, with breathing, swallowing and speech taking a hard hit. I don't know how long I have, but I'm not dead right now, so hold off the sorrow and tears for when I've taken my last breath. Unless you've always wanted me dead. Then you can throw a party. Get drunk. Have a ball. See what I'll care. I'll be too dead to notice.

But not today! Today and the next week or so I'll be sharing some artwork I've posted elsewhere I did about this stupid disease. And believe me, it's a stupid disease that I hate like poison.

  2. Hello Patrick,
I had been curious as to your decreased online presence lately, as I check this blog every so often - and hoped you had just gotten bored with blogging, as many do eventually. I am so very sorry to hear the news. I have been a fan of your work for quite some time - and even ordered some loot from you in the past - some zines and some collaborations with other artists. I enjoy your style so much that it has even influenced amy pen and ink wash sketching and drawing; I especially like the way you use different graduated shades of ink in your Lovecraft adaptations - those are still some of my favorites of yours; the staging is clear, the composition is uncluttered, and the panels are well-paced and well written - you could teach a class in sequential art or storyboarding. My sincere thanks for putting so much of your work out into the world and for making it available to all - it has made a a big difference and provided much enjoyment, to me at least.
