Golden Oldie: Crossover Invasion

I did this seven years ago for Flagpole Magazine. Seven years later, I want all of y'all out there on the internet to see it.

Short Armed Creep

I just drew this on a piece of toilet paper while waiting for a large file to open at work. Enjoy.

Knocked 'Em!

This is a page from my oversized issue of Biig Deal Comics & Stories #10, entitled "Knocked 'Em". It was one long wordless story and I printed it at tabloid size with a full color cover. I printed the cover with the $5.00 price on it, felt I needed to draw five dollrs worth of story, and then spent a good chuck of change getting the book xeroxed. For every issue I sell I make a profit of ziltch, but hey, that's what I get for pricing a comic before I finish it.

I'll have copies for sale as soon as I figure out what to change for shipping a tabloid sized book for a reasonable price.

Shannon Smith did a flattering review of this book at his website, which I strongly suggest everyone to visit. He has a bunch of great mini-comic reviews and some of his own comic posted. G'wan, have a look.

Get Big For Crime!

I did this a few years ago, as the date at the top plainly states. Click on it to see it at a readable size.

She just woke up.

Yeah, those do look like comfy pajamas, huh?

I'm going to go eat a banana now and other soft food. I just had a crown replaced and heaven knows I'm miserable now.

Eddie's Week thumbnail sketch page

Eddie gets in contact with the Stay At Home Warden Project (SAHWP) organizer. One day this will be a page from one massive story. I promise.

Bruiser

This paper made the ink bleed like crazy, but it gave it a nice rough line. So yes, let's say I did that on purpose.

Dylan Dog

I did a quick sketch of Dylan Dog... er, ten minutes ago testing out a brush I got for a project at work. Yep, the brush works. If any of y'all haven't picked up the Dylan Dog Case Files book from Dark Horse, do yourself a favor and read the hell out of it. It's 680+ pages of Italian horror and mystery comics starring a charming lead character.

FLUKE flier art

This is from FLUKE's 2008 flier, which was a letter sized piece of paper randomly stapled to a flat surface in downtown Athens begging people to come to our event.

W'come, y'all!

I did this for a "Welcome to Athens, incoming freshmen from the four corners of the world, but mostly Atlanta" kind of article that appeared in the Flagpole. The city needs to make a bronze statue of this guy at every major road leading into Athens right on the border of the city limits.

Dapper Bastard

I don't think that combination of clothes were ever in style, but that doesn't stop his from walkin' tall.

Later that evening...

It's been nice getting a little rain lately. Our blueberry bush is fried and my sinuses are dried out, but a little rain can do wonders. Still, drawing rain is hard. Convincing your viewer that a mess of water drops are falling from the clouds is more difficult than one would think. Charles Schulz drew good rainy days in his Peanuts strips. Just a bunch of vertical lines attacking the ground. I feel if I ever went at it that loosely, it would just look like I was drawing hair interrupting the scene.

Three Lil' Drawings

I did these three for the 2009 Athens Mental Health Benefit art auction. I wonder if they sold as a set or not. They look pretty together, yeah?

Tragoston Tales!

Here's a page from a comic I did about a diamond theft, an idiot savant theif, and a cyclops detective. I'm throwing the whole thing online soon, so keep your eyes open, The Internet!

Cobra Hands!

This is a few years old, but I'm putting it up since this blog is new. This originally ran in an issue of Vice Magazine.

Click on the comic for a slightly larger readable version, which I'm sure you were planning on doing anyway since you know how the internet works.

Frustration and Melancholia!

Eddie Explains It All.

This is a sketch of a couple of pages from "Eddie's Week", a comic I'm going to start on sooner than later. Here, Eddie is trying to explain something to a SAHWP* representative to cover up a mistake that really wasn't his fault in the first place. Also, Eddie has just come back from dinner with his date and she doesn't seem to be buying any of it. In short, Eddie is a terrible liar.

The Champ

Sharpie marker and white color pencil on chip board. Those are the ingredients for this masterpiece.
